As I was reading about the SXSW musical festival yesterday, I was reminded of John and how we would talk about who would be performing that year. It’s gotten too big to be cool, but I’m sure we would still talk about it. Peace, my friend.
One of my favorite memories of John is from when we both happened to live in New York City. This was probably around 2006, and he invited my husband and I to come hear him play at the famous CBGBs. In fact, I seem to remember that he was one of the acts that got to play at CBGBs in the final months before it closed. It was thrilling not only because of the historic venue, but because of the passion and heart with which John would play. He had the crowd on fire. It was definitely a night I won’t forget.
Breaking Bats for Jesus has been a formative CD for me, and I’ve worn it out no less than 3 times and I am on my fourth copy now. Wonderful to hear that someone is keeping his music going. Sorry to hear about his passing. And looking forward to all three albums being up for purchase.

Thank you, Amanda!
